TWO CHICAGO-AREA MUSIC LEGENDS TEAM UP TO MAKE SOME LEGENDARY NOIZZ!
(Chicago, March 14th, 2008) He is an international rock legend, a two-time recording artist with Epic Records and the former blistering guitarist with The Boyzz from Illinoizz. She is a legendary diva, founder of The Space Place, Trax, and Phuture Trax Records and the undisputed Queen of House. And together, they are going to Rock the House the third Tuesday of every month at Chicago's world famous Dark Room.
Screamin' Rachael Cain and Mike Tafoya and Tafoya's Lost Boyzz are teaming up to create Rock of Fame, the hottest live rock night in Chicago that includes a showcase and a showdown for Chicago’s hottest emerging bands.. “I love Chicago,” says Rachael, “but I've learned that if you want a scene, you've got to create it. It's time for the world to know that this city is second to none when it comes to real live Rock and Roll. We did it for House Music, and now its time to bring on the Noizz!” Tafoya adds, “There's only two kinds of music, good and bad. We need to give the music lover a choice between what's convenient and what's good.”
This unlikely collision of hardcore Rock and Industrial/ House began in December, 2007 when Mike and Rachael agreed to resurrect the Boyzz classic Too Wild Too Tame for the 10th Annual Jingle Bell Jam, a fundraiser for Rock For Kids. They further stunned the Chicago music scene with their explosive collaboration when Mike and The Lost Boyzz joined Rachael on stage at The 27th Chicago Music Awards, where Rachael received the prestigious Award of Honor.
Each Rock of Fame show kicks off with Classic Total Request Videos by Chicago's own General Pacman, followed by Tafoya's Lost Boyzz, who will be joined on stage by Screamin' Rachael Cain. And when these two powerful musical forces come together, anything is possible! “This is as real as it gets”, says Rachael, “no Star Search, tribute bands, or boring, homogenized, churned out fake sounds. These days Rock has had a bad name, with the trendy crowd, probably because it needed a kick in the rear to get back to its real spirit.”
Rock of Fame also features a showcase for emerging Chicago-area bands, leading up to a Battle of the Bands and a contract with Rave Song Records, the collaborative label born out of this exciting new partnership. “When we have a winner,” Rachael adds, we’ll take the show on the road internationally.” To kick things off, his month's showcase features Rave Song recording artists, For Your Eyes Only, the Aurora-based fast rock band with Jim Angel, son of Boyzz original bass player Dave Angel, on bass.
Rock of Fame is presented by Screamin' Rachael Cain, GP Productions and Rave Song Records. The Noizz begins on Tuesday March 25th from 9pm-2am at Chicago's Darkroom at 2210 West Chicago (between Damon and Western) and continues on the third Tuesday of every month. Cover charge is $5.00.
